Biggest Draft Steals in Hockey History

Hockey players just love to prove the scouts wrong. Teams take a huge amount of heat from fans and media alike when they bet the farm on a player who seems like a lock to become a star in the NHL, but ultimately turns out to be a bust. But the scouts are rarely given their due credit when the outcome is reversed. Every now and then a player will defy the odds, selected late in the draft and with bleak prospects of an NHL career, these players will surprise everyone by making their respective teams, and in some cases, becoming NHL stars. When this happens it seems the scouts still take heat, since everyone wonders how 29 other teams passed on this next coming of Wayne Gretzky for so many rounds. Either way, it’s tough to win as a scout, but these hard working hockey gurus who travel countless miles to scour the world for hidden talent can take satisfaction in the fact they’ve made their team better by seeing NHL potential in a player when everyone else saw a

The Legends Of Nhl: Brendan Shanahan

Brendan Shanahan has had an incredible career in NHL Hockey.  Over the years he has proven that he is one of the best to ever play the game, and he also is a definite candidate for the Hall of Fame.  Brendan Shanahan was born in 1969 in Mimico, Ontario.  He started off his hockey playing days in the junior hockey league (OHL) and there he learned important lessons about the games itself and also about leadership.  These are skills we would continue to improve and embellish on throughout his career.  When he was 18 he was entered into the 1987 draft as the second overall pick and was chosen by the New Jersey Devils.  Shanahan had made such a name for himself before the draft that he already had very high expectations to go in and become an integral part of the team, and he did just that.

Only his second year into his contract with the Devils, Shanahan scored 51 goals in the season. After four seasons he was traded to the St. Louis Blues where he made a

Why I Would Use Nhl Shower Curtains on My Daughters Bathroom

Shower curtains are an integral part of any bathroom. Choosing your shower curtain with a little care and effort goes a long way in enhancing the decor and ambience of your bathroom.

If you are a creative person who likes to give a lot of attention towards decorating your home tastefully, then you must choose your shower curtains carefully from a variety of different colours, styles and themes available in the market. You also have an option of customizing these curtains if you want to.

If it is a bathroom for teenagers, then you have a lot of options to choose from. Teenagers are crazy about sports especially baseball and hockey. There are so many famous teams in the United States that belong to the NHL which is the national Hockey League. Boys especially teenagers and college students love to play and watch these games and are ardent followers of these games.

Nhl Power Rankings

Power Rankings for this week.  A special thanks to, BlueJacketsHockey

1. San Jose Sharks (26-4-3) 55 points
Yes, I know they lost twice this week and once to the Blue Jackets, but as of now I still think, by a slight edge they are the best in the NHL right now.
2. Detroit Red Wings (22-6-4) 48 points
Yea, they were one of the teams that beat the sharks last week and I know I’ll have some angry Bruins fans, but they beat the best team in the NHL, they gotta be here.
3. Boston Bruins (24-5-4) 52 points
Don’t get me wrong Bruins, I think you are a great team and that you will someday be 1 or 2, but the Wings beat the Sharks last week and I don’t think it’s fair to make the Sharks move from 1 to 3 when right now, they are still the best team in the leauge, but I think that the Bruins may be number 1 in a few weeks to come.
4. Chicago Blackhawks (18-6-7) 43 points
Can you say on fire? I’m not sure the Blackhawks can’t

New CEO Brings Change to Palace

Palace President and CEO Alan Ostfield vividly recalls one incident that defines the past few months.

“I had a 25-year-old ticket sales guy come up to me and say, ‘Embrace the change,’ ” Ostfield said. “He is excited. We all are. We are attacking jobs on a daily basis.”

It’s been three months since Ostfield was named president and chief executive officer at Palace Sports & Entertainment, which includes the Detroit Pistons, The Palace of Auburn Hills, DTE Energy Music Theatre and Meadow Brook Music Festival.

Ostfield became CEO Feb. 17 after serving as chief operating officer for eight years.

The word transition is used often as Ostfield speaks about changes that have occurred at the Palace.

One major part of that change was the March 2009 death of Palace and Pistons owner Bill Davidson at age 86.

“He was one of the most wonderful businessmen,” Ostfield said.

Davidson was a

2008-09 Nhl Playoffs Slated to be as Exciting as Ever

Since as far back as 1893, professional hockey teams have been competing for the prestigious NHL Stanley Cup trophy, awarded to the winner of the NHL playoffs. The cup itself, is the oldest professional sports trophy in North America, partly due to the fact that unlike other professional leagues, the NHL does not create a new trophy year after year, but instead hands the same one down. For this reason, the cup has been extended in size on many occasions, to make room for the engraved names of many new Stanley Cup Champion players and teams. Some of the NHL’s most well known legends, including Mario Lemieux, Bobby Orr, Gordie Howe, Maurice Richard and Wayne Gretzkey, all have their names engraved on the cup; some more than once.

Over the years, as the Stanley Cup grew into a massive and over 100 year-old trophy, it became not only the pride of the NHL, but also a symbol for the rich history and culture of hockey in North America in general. Every

Wrigley Field

History

Main article: History of Wrigley Field

The park was built in six weeks in 1914 at a cost of about 0,000 (.3 million in 2008 dollars) by the Chicago lunchroom magnate “Lucky Charlie” Weeghman, who owned the Federal League Dolphins. (The club signed a fifty-five-year lease to use the park for app ,000 per year.) It was designed by the architect Zachary Taylor Davis (who four years earlier had designed Comiskey Park for the Chicago White Sox), incorporating the new “fireproof” building codes recently enacted by the city. According to some sources, when it opened for the 1914 Federal League season, Weeghman Park had a seating capacity of 14,000. According to another source, the original seating capacity was 20,000.

In late 1915 the Federal League folded. The resourceful Weeghman formed a syndicate including the chewing gum manufacturer William Wrigley Jr. to buy the Chicago Cubs from Charles P. Taft for about 0,000. Weeghman immediately
